The Castle Coffee House & Eatery is a warmly inviting cafe nestled on Patrick Street in Clarecastle, offering a cozy retreat for both locals and travelers winding through County Clare. Its charm lies in the blend of a casual dining setting and an attentive, community-minded atmosphere that makes it a natural stop for a relaxed breakfast or a midday pause.

From mornings filled with the aroma of fresh brown bread and homemade raspberry jam, to quieter afternoons enjoying their range of scones, cakes, and specialty bagels, this spot caters well to those who appreciate straightforward, hearty fare done well. The Scottish Breakfast and a vegetarian focaccia with goats cheese show they consider a variety of tastes, while daily specials like open-faced tuna melts or chicken curry wraps add a bit of local spontaneity to the menu.

Inside, an open turf fire adds a distinctly Irish touch to the ambiance, bringing warmth and a sense of tradition to the space—perfect for settling in on a crisp day. The cafe tends to be busy on weekends, reflecting its popularity among families and locals alike, so a leisurely weekday visit might be ideal for those looking to avoid a wait.

The staff’s genuine care, especially noticeable in how they welcome older patrons and families with small children, shapes much of the experience. Quick service, a kid-friendly menu, and attentiveness to special requests ensure comfort without fuss. This makes it a practical choice for a nourishing breakfast before exploring Clare Castle or the wider Clare area, or a friendly spot to catch up with friends over coffee and home-baked treats.

Visitors can expect a no-frills, down-to-earth vibe here—less about showiness and more about feeling genuinely looked after. Whether you're passing through after a scenic drive from local landmarks like the Cliffs of Moher or settling in for a morning meal with locals, The Castle Coffee House & Eatery offers an easygoing pace and plenty of familiar comforts.

Found this place a bit by chance driving from the Cliffs of Moher and Dingle… and what a pleasant surprise it was! The food was lovely, service was top notch, and the ambiance was sweet and relaxing. I had one of the daily specials (open faced tuna melt (pictured)) and my travel partner had an chicken curry wrap. Both delicious! Hope I get to visit again sometime

Had breakfast here full Irish had plenty in it. Fresh made brown bread and their own raspberry jam. Lovely place. Open turf fire. Fresh breads cakes and scones. It's a busy spot so your may have to wait at the weekend.

Absolutely wonderful little Cafe. The coffee was delicious and piping hot and the cinnamon brown bread scone was so so tasty. The slices of cake are more than generous and very good. A tad too sweet for my personal taste but my table companions loved it. The service was also outstanding. So friendly and warm. I can't recommend enough.

Today, I went for soup, chips, latte and cheese cake. The soup was amazing and the brown bread was super. The latte was fine with strong coffee taste which is needed after a long morning. The cheese cake was OK a little sweet for me but everything was good. The place was so clean and the waitresses were so nice, the food came quickly. A very cosy atmosphere and nice to sit down for a chat.
